Berry Bros. & Rudd

Project background

Their Basingstoke site is home to a state-of-the-art bonded warehouse facility and tasting rooms, where their famous Wine School events are held. It also houses the Warehouse Shop, in the former bottling hall, offering a range of wines and spirits, encompassing both the Old and the New World, with prices varying from £7 to £100+ a bottle.

They also have a warehouse and fine wines department in Battersea. The company’s reputation and products are prestigious. Its premises reflect such standing, consonant with customer expectations of a historic and world-renowned brand.

CID delivered…

CID has completed projects in both Battersea and Basingstoke. Alan Poole, Berry Bros. & Rudd’s Site Facilities Manager has worked with key members of the CID team on many previous occasions, and had no hesitation calling them in to tender for both projects. We asked him why that was.

“They’re good to work with and they always listen to what you have to say,” says Alan. “It works both ways because CID people are always willing to offer advice as well, even if it doesn’t form part of the project they’re working on. You get a strong feeling that they’re very happy to be working in your interests.”

At the Battersea site, CID converted an area of the warehouse into an office and meeting room for the fine wine team. This involved designing and installing a 700 square-metre mezzanine floor area from start to finish, including glass walls and carpeting. CID also created a temperature-controlled sample room on this level and addressed the customer’s requirement for a well-lit space. “At the design stage we wanted a great combination of natural light wherever possible and soft but effective electric lighting. CID delivered a great design with glass walls and the incorporation of LED lighting. Exactly what we wanted,” says Alan.

A great fit

In the Basingstoke warehouse, CID were asked to undertake repairs to the racking. The specialist requirement to this task was that the racking was of a unique type and design, originally sourced from Spain. CID resourced racking that offered a precise materials and colour match.

What did our Client say?

“The CID team is always approachable and flexible. They make sure they work around the day-to-day of the business, even if that means they have to change their schedule to accommodate us.”
