Project background

The problem was that the Le Creuset team was getting more and more cramped, ‘bursting at the seams’ as Simon Wright, Head of Operations for Le Creuset UK and Eire says. To make best use of space in such situations, the only way is up.

The team wanted to find a design and fit-out company they could rely on to deliver great quality for a mezzanine floor project. They found CID in the most trustworthy of all ways; word-of-mouth recommendation. One of Le Creuset’s big industrial neighbours had used CID on a similar project and they provided a compelling testimonial to Le Creuset. The rest was history.

CID delivered…

CID designed and installed a 2,000 sq. ft. mezzanine floor area, extending the space into what became a new area for the marketing department, with a team of 16. Every aspect of the project was covered, from the first stage design through to data cabling and electrics, lighting and air conditioning, carpeting, painting and finishing. “There was very little snagging; virtually none”, says Simon. Throughout the project there was no disruption to Le Creuset’s day-to-day operations.

“CID came to us with a great reputation,” says Simon. “Then they lived up to it onsite. We were all impressed by the professionalism of the team and the pre-planning that had clearly gone into. They erected vast heavy-duty dust covers that you couldn’t see through. They respected our business and worked round us so we could keep functioning.

Apart from the sheer quality of the new space they created for us, there were two big factors about how CID worked that will make sure we use them again, and that we pass on the good word to others.

One was the preparation, pre-build and onsite. We saw CAD drawings in development and knew what to expect; we were able to suggest changes here and there along the way that CID always took in their stride. This helped build trust in the outcome, the finished product. The other was their health and safety approach and their obvious commitment to safe systems at work. They took care of what they were doing and how they did it, that shows true professionals in action in my view.”

A revelation

Le Creuset unveiled the new space with a theatrical flourish and their staff loved what they saw. “Fantastic. The space, the size, the finish; everyone enthused,” says Simon.

Final thoughts?

We asked Simon if he had any closing thoughts on the project. “It was all done back in 2011 and to this day it looks as fresh, inspiring and top-notch as it did the day it was revealed. CID work seamlessly, everything just flows. That make projects like this look simple, and I know there’s a lot more to it than that. My last word is about the feeling the whole team has about this environment CID created for us: quality.”
